Wills

If you die without a Will you are deemed to die ‘Intestate’.  In those circumstances the Intestacy Rules will apply to your estate and those Rules set out in priority order who is able to inherit.

It is a myth that if you are married or in a civil partnership and you have children and you die without leaving a Will that your entire estate will pass automatically to your spouse.

If the Intestacy Rules apply to your estate then the law determines who is able to benefit.  If you have ever watched “Heir Hunters” on the television you will know that in many cases distant family members will inherit your estate.  You may not have met any of those people in your lifetime.

Having a Will tailor made for you gives you peace of mind knowing that your assets will pass on to those individuals that you have carefully chosen or have a moral obligation to provide for. Don’t bury your head in the sand – preparing a will is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your family.
